In the summer of 2021, samples were taken in the Sippenau Moor, Bavaria for molecular biological studies. Altiarchaeota were first identified in the sulfurous bog water 20 years ago.
These previously uncultured archaea are to be cultivated as part of the project. Sequence analyses will be carried out with the samples from Sippenau Moor.
