In November 2021, the ICBM took samples of seawater in Dangast, Lower Saxony.
The town is located on the southwest shore of Jade Bay at the confluence of the Ellensdammer Tief (Deep, watercourse near the sea with a bottom largely below sea level) and the North Sea. The samples will be used to isolate Euryarchaeota and determine their abundance in the sea water.
